Thame Town Cricket Club held their 2013 Adult Awards and Presentation Night at the Church Road club on Friday October 18.

The awards were well attended by club members and friends and were a fitting way to conclude another very good season for Thame.

The club has rebuilt its first team after several departures last year, and this was shown on the field in the 2013 season with some much improved averages.

Mike Higgs, Will Sutcliffe, Will Taylor and club coach Deon Laubscher all scored heavily throughout the season, whilst bowling stalwarts Sam Lachlan and Mike Higgs took plenty of wickets.

There was also keen competition from ex-professional John Maynard and Will Rooney who returned to the club mid-season.

Mike Higgs, who handed the captaincy over to Sam Lachlan to concentrate on his own game, had an excellent season and won both the batting and bowling awards with most runs and most wickets.

The John Fulkes junior player award went to Daniel Patey, who scored heavily in the club’s junior teams, the Second XI, and is an Oxfordshire player. Dan made his first team debut for Thame in 2013.

Other award winners on the night were:

Second XI batting - Richard Carr.

Second XI bowling - Ian McStay.

Third XI batting - Ben Warwick.

Third XI bowling - Doug Hooton.

Clubperson of the year - Matt Swain.
