A Cliff Brown double helped Thame pull off an impressive fightback to overturn a two-goal deficit and win a thriller 3-2 at Eastcote.

The visitors were sluggish early on and were duly punished when the West London side converted two short corners within minutes.

As the game looked to be slipping away, Thame regrouped and Brown struck just before the break to give his side some momentum going into half-time.

In the second half, the visitors’ defence held firm, allowing the strike force to do the damage at the other end, with Brown levelling things up before Gareth Birkett edged them ahead.

Eastcote made a late push to equalise, pressuring Thame with a series of penalty corners, but the visitors held on for the win.

There was also a good result for Thame ladies’ first team, who showed why they are top of Division Two with a 2-0 win at Sonning – the goals coming from Clare Harris and Mia Brunner.

However, it was disappointment for the men’s second team, who lost 1-0 to Chiswick despite controlling long spells of the match.

Meanwhile, the ladies’ seconds beat Aylesbury at home, building a commanding 4-0 lead before the visitors hit back with two late goals.
