A member of Aylesbury’s Bearbrook Running Club has been selected to represent Great Britain at the final round of the ITU World Triathlon Series in London this Sunday.

Paula Robinson will proudly wear the red, white and blue colours of her home nation in the 45-49 age category when the world’s best triathletes descend on Hyde Park for the Grand Final London.

She will do battle with competitors from countries as far away as Australia, South Africa and the USA over the ‘standard’ race distance.

The gruelling event will see Paula take on a 1,500-metre swim followed by a 40km (25 miles) cycle and a 10km (6.2 miles) run.

“I’m lucky enough to have represented Great Britain twice before – in Australia in 2010 and in Las Vegas in 2011 – but it’s even more special to be selected to race on home soil,” Paula said.

“Sunday’s race will be held on the same course that was used for the Olympics last summer and it’s one of the most spectacular you can tackle.

“I’m going to be pushing hard to make sure it’s a day to remember.”

Also joining Paula in London will be her Bearbrook colleague Jen Kendall who has secured a place in the ‘open’ race after successfully coming through the entry ballot.

Jen is coached by Paula and is hoping for a good showing after successfully completing her first Ironman race in July.
