A business owner is celebrating after his Budgens branch was crowned best in the country.

Dary Sweeney owns the Sweeney’s Budgens store in Wendover High Street, and thanked customers who helped him win the firm’s award for best medium sized store.

Stores up and down the country were independently judged before the winner was crowned.

Mr Sweeney’s shop recently reopened after an extensive refit in which the fresh aisle was extended.

The move means that customers can chose from a greater range of fruit and vegetables, and a varied selection of ready-meals and British meat.

Mr Sweeney said: “I think that this award is a direct result of everybody’s hard work and enthusiasm.”
