A university student is appealing for support as she prepares to climb Mount Kilimanjaro this summer.
Zara Canfield, 20, has raised more than £2,000 towards her challenge to climb the 5,895m high mountain in Tanzania this August.
Zara, who is studying Sports Science at London’s Brunel University, said: “I never travelled during my gap year, so this is a great chance to visit Africa and raise money for charity at the same time.”
The plucky student is one of 49 from Brunel who will take part in the Childreach International programme, which improves children’s healthcare and schooling in developing countries.
Zara, of Church Hill Crescent, Thame, has raised £2,270 so far but hopes to double this by June. The youngster’s fundraising efforts saw her take a place in the project’s Top 20, which earned her a personal letter of thanks from the charity’s chief executive.
She’s holding a Krispy Kreme cake sale on Saturday, April 19, on Greyhound Walk, Thame, from 11am. To donate, visit Zara’s page here.
