A six-strong team of hospital staff donned halos and triumphed in first place after taking on a stretcher endurance challenge.

The Angel Medics of Thame Community Hospital came out on top with 92 points after taking part in the charity event with nine other teams at the Phoenix Trail in Towersey.

The group of six ladies – Gill Norris, Helen Facey, Pam Bristow, Anita Clayton, Charlene Hennessey and Mary Dix – carried a stretcher with their dummy patient against the clock, tackling mental and physical challenges while crowds cheered them on.

Their aim is to increase awareness of the Wycombe-based charity Scannappeal, which raises funds for vital breast cancer screening equipment.

The women have already gathered more than £1,000 towards the cause. This will go towards paying for a new mobile breast screening unit

Receptionist Helen Facey said: “This appeal is close to our hearts because many of our friends, family and colleagues’ lives have been touched by breast cancer with differing results.

There’s still time to donate at www.justgiving.com/Angel-Medics-of-Thame-Hospital, or you can pop into the hospital instead.
