A dad from Oakley has been selected to represent England at this summer’s Commonwealth Games.
Engineer Matthew French, 32, is the British record holder for Olympic double trap shooting and he has been selected as part of the clay pigeon shooting team of two for Glasgow.
French won the British Championship last year and after smashing the record of 139/150 clays with a 143 at a selection weekend in Yorkshire two weeks ago and winning the English Open, he confirmed his place for the games.
The shooter lives in Brookside with his wife Lucy and their 8-month-old son Henry. #
French said: “Henry was due on the day of the British Championships but luckily for me, he was two weeks late. “It’s all gone very well and I’m very pleased to be selected. ”
