A driving instructor who has ‘gone above and beyond’ for his students has been nominated for an industry award.
Andy Clement, from Waddesdon, has been nominated for a prize at the Golden ‘L’ Awards for going the extra mile to make sure his students pass their tests.
He set up Mentor Motoring in October 2012,
The father-of-two’s methods appear to be working well so far, with around 80% passing first time, compared to about 47% nationally.
He said: “The biggest thing is that it’s good to have some nerves, it sharpens you up a little bit.
“What I say is ‘you’re going to have butterflies, we have to try and calm you down so those butterflies are flying in formation rather than all over the place’.”
Mr Clement, 42, worked in the construction industry before becoming a driving instructor, something he says he ‘always wanted to do’.
He said: “I love driving and cars. I’m a bit of petrol head’.
The instructor said he was ‘shocked’ to be nominated for the award, the ceremony for which is being held in Worcester on February 23.
Voting is open until the end of January at www.goldenl.co.uk
