Christmas may be a traditional time to see a pantomime, but at New Theatre, Oxford there will be more grown up entertainment.
The spectacularly successful coming of age romantic dance musical Dirty Dancing is the festive treat on offer over Christmas and New Year.
This feel good show kicks off the new winter season at the theatre and will run from December 9 through to January 3 with matinee and evening performances.
And for the rest of the season there is a superb mixture of music, drama, comedy and magic with visits from Spamalot, One Man Two Guvnors, Swan Lake, Al Murray and Brendan Cole.
At the start of the new year the Russian Ice Stars take a magical journey into one of the best loved fairy tales with Snow White on Ice , which will be at the theatre for a week from January 8 - 11.
And at the end of the month and moving into February, West End hit and winner of three Olivier awards Top Hat, packed full of Irving Berlin’s greatest hits including, Cheek to Cheek and Let’s Face the Music and Dance, is sure to wow audiences.
Spamalot with Joe Pasquale and Todd Carty follows and then there are several one night shows including The Sooty Show and three Ellen Kent opera productions including Madama Butterfly.
Looking right through the year, highlights include Katherine Jenkins, Al Murray and Derren Brown in March;Blue, Michael Ball and Simple Minds in April; Alan Carr, Bryan Ferry and Jersey Boys in May; Calamity Jane and The Moody Blues in June; and The Bodyguard in November.
