James Bond fans are in for a treat at a themed Casino Royale evening taking place during the annual town festival in Princes Risborough.
This year’s theme is children’s book characters, which will be reflected across many events taking place throughout the town from July 5 - 12.
But the theme becomes more grown up on the first night, Saturday July 5, writes Heather Jan Brunt.
The evening at the community centre will feature blackjack and roulette. And although Daniel Craig isn’t likely to turn up in person, guests will still enjoy a truly James Bond evening as Miss Dawn Alacey performs her unique show Licensed to Thrill.
Songs like Goldfinger, A View to a Kill, Live and Let Die and Diamonds are Forever, written for the Bond movies will give real atmosphere to the evening’s fun.
Miss Alacey has a remarkable three octave vocal range to fully capture the original mood of songs that were originally recorded by Shirley Bassey, Matt Monro, Tom Jones, and Tina Turner in tribute to our great British spy.
The annual Risborough festival will begin with a children’s fancy dress parade throughthe High Street and Market Square to Wades Park on July 5. In the afternoon there will be circus training, tug of war, kids games and an array of stalls.
On Sunday July 6 a 10k run will start from Market Square at 9.30am. A children’s chocolate hunt will be held later the same day, starting at 1pm at Whiteleaf Cross.
Throughout the festival week exhibitions, walks, concerts and a barn dance will take place. The festival will end on July 12 with a street fair and live music.
Tickets for the Casino Royale evening cost £10, which includes entrance and free casino money. There will also be hot food and a bar. Tickets can be purchased from email@example.com
