Aston Clinton F1 racer Mark Webber was once again in the spotlight as he labelled Romain Grosjean ‘an embarrassing first lap nutcase’ following a collision which put the Aussie to the back of the field in Japan.

Webber was quickest during Friday practice at Suzuka and put together a brilliant qualifying lap to line up on the front row on Saturday behind teammate Seb Vettel.

But it was all for nothing as 10 seconds into the 53-lap Japanese Grand Prix he was hit by Grosjean and the resultant melee put him to the back of the field.

“My whole weekend was destroyed by one driver’s actions,” says Mark.

“If it was the first time Grosjean had done something like that, it would be okay because these things happen in racing.

“But he’s done it many, many times this year and at this level that’s not good enough. The stewards will take a look at him, but, ultimately, he has to look in the mirror himself. None of us can do it for him.”
