Thame Hockey Club ladies IIIs suffered a disappointed 3-1 defeat away at Buckingham after an evenly-matched contest.

The home side made a fast start but some excellent defensive play from Hattie, Kate and Man of the Match Claire M combined with a number of fine saves from keeper Anneliese kept Buckingham at bay.

The deadlock was finally broken on 20 minutes, but Thame levelled the match at half-time when Clare S finished off a lovely pass from Danielle.

The second half followed a similar pattern with both teams creating chances and again Buckingham gained the upper hand to go 2-1 ahead, and this time they held onto their lead before a third goal 10 minutes from time sealed victory.

Thame ladies IIs, meanwhile, recovered from their first loss of the season last weekend with a stunning 8-1 victory over Wycombe Vs. The result keeps Thame on course for promotion.

Elsewhere, the men’s first team lost 2-1 to Bicester while the IIs drew 1-1 with Bracknell and the IIIs lost 9-0 to Reading Rascals.
