Thame Hockey Club’s ladies IIIs paid for a poor first half display when they slumped to a 3-1 defeat away to Newbury & Thatcham IVs at the weekend.
The visitors made a sluggish start and despite having plenty of possession, quickly found themselves trailing 3-0 to three breakaway goals.
Thame responded well though and held firm for the rest of the first half before producing an improved second half display that was rewarded with a goal from Danielle.
Good defending plus excellent goalkeeping from Emily thwarted the home side and stopped them from adding further goals, but the damage had already been done as Newbury ran out winners.
Elsewhere Thame’s men’s first team remain bottom of MBBO Division One after a 9-1 defeat to Banbury IIs, while the L1s had a thrilling 4-4 draw with Reading to stay eighth in Trysports Premier Two and the L2s are now 13 points clear at the top of Division Four after maintaining their 100 per cent winning record with a 7-0 thumping over Windsor.
