THAME’s speed demon Mark Webster returned to the track at the weekend to finish in a respectable sixth place.

It was the first time he had competed since last season and held his own against some tough opposition, which included 19 other racers at Brands Hatch.

Webster was helped out by the favourable conditions on the day and he made the most of it by passing two cars on the first corner.

Although he had to surrender one back in the following corner after he was blocked off on the Graham Hill bend.

He regained the position on lap three as he moved into sixth place by overtaking a Nova GTE.

Then on the penultimate lap he caught the fifth placed Derek Rozier but was unable to find the time to pass him, finishing half a second behind in sixth.

It was a respectable finish for Webster, who was taking part in the 750 mc Stock Hatch race series and was racing in his Fiesta XR2i.

Webster will be looking to continue on from the form he showed last season where he won his class in a six hour relay in October.

But he will have to wait another four weeks to get back into action, with the next race taking place at Snetterton at the end of May.
