Aylesbury Grammar School has teamed up with Halton Tennis Centre to launch a new development centre based at the school.
Next Tuesday (October 29) from 10am until 12 noon all children from the surrounding community aged 2.5-8 years are invited along for a free tennis session.
The Everyball Coaching team from Halton will head up the coaching program and a six-week course will start starting on November 9.
The launch of the tennis development centre forms part of a pioneering student athlete partnership between AGS and Halton, providing tennis to children from the many schools in the local area.
Stephen Lehec, AGS head teacher, said: “I am excited to be working with Halton, one of the top tennis centres in the UK.
“Having Halton Tennis Centre on our doorstep offers us a unique opportunity to access the very best coaching both as a development centre and for our performance players.” The vision is to create a comprehensive development centre at AGS for juniors and adults, with coaching courses for all regardless of age or ability. The scheme will also cater for the needs of High Performance tennis players who attend the school.
Nick Leighton, Halton vice chairman, said: “We are giving more children a chance to participate and enjoy the game in their own back yard without the expense of joining a tennis club.”
