Aylesbury boss Dave Larham has hailed his side’s fine form and wants the Ducks to be clinical at Royal Wootton Bassett today (Saturday) to continue their assault on the Southern Counties North.
The magenta and blacks cruised to a thumping bonus point win over Reading Abbey last time out which put them in second place, just two points off leaders Bletchley.
The Ay’s ran in five unanswered tries that day to leave Larham purring. They had a weekend off last Saturday but the second team did the club proud with a fine win over Buckingham seconds.
Going into the crunch clash at Bassett, Ay’s are just two points off leaders Bletchley and Larham wants some ruthlessness to make sure Aylesbury take advantage of any slip ups.
“We produced a balanced performance of defence and attack to dominate both possession and territory (against Reading Abbey),” he said.
“We were very pleased with our intensity, work rate and appetite at every phase of the game.
“We know that we could have been more clinical in the second half, but have to appreciate that there are areas of our game that we must develop further, especially against the top teams.
“Overall, we have given ourselves a great start to the season. We need to apply ourselves to continually strive to improve and produce consistent performances.”
