A rising Thame fencing star has taken third place in the Bucks, Berks and Oxfordshire under 16 Fencing Championships.

Daniel, a previous bronze medallist in the Under 14 age group, gained a bye through to the last 16 after a strong group stage showing and won his quarter-final easily.

However, he came up against tougher opposition in the semi-finals, losing out 15-7 to Alexander Hardie, who went on to win the final comfortably.

Daniel’s next goal is to translate the result into a strong performance at regional level, with the Southern Regional Championships coming up in the spring.
