The annual Table Tennis Championships at Stoke Mandeville Stadium attracted star studded entries including players from Oxford, Milton Keynes and Wycombe Leagues.

The main event was a closely contested affair with past winners from Haddenham in particular, Tony Gorman and Andy Misseldine, looking to add to their trophy collection.

Top players from the Premier League filled the quarter-final places and there were some entertaining matches. Tony Gorman overcame Bellingdon’s Jim Welch to meet Trinidadian, Sanga Quamina representing Haddenham in the semi finals. Sanga, a new player to the Aylesbury League, had just beaten Haddenham’s Darren Palmer in five pulsating legs crammed full of flourishing attacking shots, winning 11-9 in the fifth leg.

Craig Brown from Bierton matched Andy point for point in their semi and won through to the final while Sanga sailed through his semi in three sets against last year’s winner, Gorman. He carried on his excellent form in the 2014 grand final to be Brown 3-2, having been 2-0 up.
