THAME ensured the title race goes to the last day with a scrappy 2-0 away win over Wallingford.
The victory took Thame to the top of the table for the first time this season after rivals West London dropped points against third place Phoenix.
The results mean Thame have to get at least a point from West London’s visit this Saturday to take silverware.
The game against Wallingford was a scrappy contest with both sides seeming reluctant to maintain possession.
Wallingford battled hard and stopped Thame from performing to their potential from start to finish.
A moment of brilliance from left back Ben Bennet separated the two sides at half time. His early strike from the top of the area into the bottom corner was the only difference between the two teams.
Joe Quilter sealed the win with a scrappy goal early in the second half and thanks in part to solid performances from debutants Will Moore and Sam Seddon, Thame were able to close down the game with relative ease.
Thame will take solace from their defensive performance but will have to improve their retention of the ball if they are to beat West London on Saturday.
The match starts as 2pm at Thame Leisure Centre.
