Aylesbury’s ladies continued their great start to the new season with a 2-1 win away at Bicester.
After settling into the game, Aylesbury soon found their stride and man of the match Natasha James scored to make it 1-0 following a great through ball from Kim Yeo. But, within the space of three minutes, Aylesbury had switched off allowing Bicester to enter the D and make it 1-1.
From the restart, Aylesbury were determined to get back in front, and minutes later were awarded a short corner which James finished to make the score 2-1 before half-time.
Looking to finish their hosts off, Aylesbury pressed hard for a goal in the second half. Chances came and went for Becs O’Neill and Gemma Hunter-Barne while goalkeeper Jade Hedger had to be at her best at the other end to protect the slender lead.
The dying minutes of the game felt like hours as Aylesbury clung onto the one-goal advantage, but their persistence paid off when the full-time whistle blew on another three points.
Aylesbury travel to tough opponents Reading seconds in the hope of continuing their winning form this Saturday.
