Aylesbury’s Tairyoku Shotokan Karate Club is celebrating after bagging a brilliant 17 medals at the JKA National Championships.
Shotokan sent 43 members to compete against 400 others but that did not faze them as they fought their way to the impressive medal haul.
Among the success stories was club member Piper Wingrove, 7, who became the National Champion in her kata category and was a silver medallist in her sparring event.
Lester Wellington, TSKC chief instructor said “This has given the students such a sense of achievement, doing so well in this competition, that I hope it will rub off on the others and encourage them to enter more in the future.
“We have a huge inter-club competition coming up in September.
“It’s such a confidence boost for them.
“Currently we are the third biggest club in the association and have three members in the JKA England Squad. We welcome new members at all times, from age five upwards, boys, girls, men and women of any ability from novice to black belt and the first lesson is free.”
