Jonny Kane helped Strakka strengthen its fight for the FIA World Endurance Championship Privateers’ category after finishing second Privateer and fifth overall in São Paulo at the weekend.
Thame racer Kane passed rival Rebellion just two minutes before the chequered flag to round off an exhilarating race.
With just 50 minutes of the race left to run and a gap of 50 seconds, Kane pushed hard to eventually overtake the #13 Rebellion, with just two minutes remaining.
He said: “I really enjoyed the race and the car’s been really good all weekend. We had a bit of a problem at the start of the race with my first set of tyres. We’re not sure why.
“It was really tight, after 30 minutes we still had a 30 second gap, but I managed to get him with a couple of laps to go.
“I overtook him going into the first corner, which I knew was my one and only chance as it’s a hard track to overtake at.
“I’m really happy, it’s another great job by the boys.”
The next round of races is in Bahrain on September 29.
