Bucks racer Tom Ingram extended his Ginetta GT Supercup lead with gritty podium double at Oulton Park over the weekend, despite being ill.
Ingram felt distinctly under-the-weather as the ITV4-televised, BTCC-supporting Ginetta GT Supercup revved up for the latest race but a brave and committed performance saw the talented press home his advantage at the top of the leaderboard.
Alternating between shivering, sweating and feeling physically sick inside the cockpit, Ingram positioned his car perfectly under intense pressure. Car problems and rising engine temperature threatened his second race but a mature approach of forsaking the battle for position in favour of the car’s wellbeing underlined the fact that the 19-year-old has a wise old head on such young shoulders.
An impressive ninth consecutive rostrum finish means he now holds a commanding 49-point championship lead, but there is no room for complacency. He said: “Croft is next, and that’s another of my favourite circuits – so let’s see if we can end the first half of the season on a high.”
