A homegrown inline hockey star is fighting her way into the Great Britain squad for the World Championships with the help of Aylesbury’s Pegasus Kickboxing Gym.

Aylesbury’s Laura Foot has been selected to represent GB at the 2013 FIRS Inline Hockey World Championships this July in Los Angeles, America.

Inline hockey, also known as roller hockey or inline roller hockey, is a team sport played on a smooth surface much akin to ice hockey. But as a minority sport there is limited funding available to help players and teams.

Laura will be taking on the best in the world as she competes as part of the Senior Women’s team with the aim of bringing home a gold medal.

She said she is ‘extremely proud and excited’ to have been selected to represent her country, and cannot wait to travel to the US.

“Most of us have to fund the trip ourselves and I wanted to ensure I was fully fit by joining a gym,” Laura said.

“Pegasus Fitness Dance and Martial Arts was really interested in helping me and when they found out how much I have to fund myself they agreed to sponsor me with membership to their gym.

“They have been extremely supportive and there is such a buzz at the gym which really does cater for everyone, I just love training there,” she said.
