AYLESBURY High School’s Under 19 netball team is the fourth best in the country after performing brilliantly at the National Finals on Saturday.
Having become regional champions earlier in the year, the talented group of girls went into the tournament against 17 top teams from around the country in a battle to bet the best.
AHS played some outstanding netball and remained unbeaten to reach the semi-finals.
In a tense match against the eventual winners, Barking Abbey, they came back from three goals down to eventually lose by just one. Despite being disappointed not to have reached the final, the girls were humble enough to congratulate a team of such high calibre.
Coach and AHS PE teacher Emily Storey was delighted with the outstanding effort of all team members.
She said: “Congratulations to the team, supporters and staff that made the day such a success for AHS and raised the profile of a Buckinghamshire team at a national level.”
Meanwhile, AHS would like to warmly thank the following Year 13 students who have played their last match for the school captain Emma Walker, Rachel Muir, Rachel Miller, Rebecca Brand, Ellie Jones and Charlotte Lee.
“Their devotion to the team and the sport was always evident during their matches,” added coach Storey.
