THAME Bowls Club fell to a 96-70 defeat away to Watlington before winning their friendly against Tilehurst on Saturday.
Top rink honours went to Trevor Copley, Ken Dennington, Vic Brooks and Skip Ron Slate who won by 22 shots to 14.
Thame Ladies had an exciting game at City and County at the week end, with only three shots separating the two teams at the half way stage. Thame fought hard but lost the game by five shots (54-49).
Top rink honours went to Barbara Hurley, Viv Jones and Skip Sandy Seckington who won 19 shots to 13.
Thame’s much sought after ladies trophy - the Ripley Rose Bowl for drawn pairs - was hotly contested and only a handful of shots separated the winners from the rest, so close was the standard of play by Thame’s lady bowlers.
