Buckinghamshire RFU will be holding a Sevens festival for Under 20s and it is open to all clubs in the county.

During the past few years it is evident that many clubs are having issues in retaining players through youth rugby to senior rugby and Bucks RFU says the purpose of the event is to keep in touch with players through the transition, as many leave and go to university, as well encouraging current players to continue.

As the event is aimed at retention, clubs are encouraged to select their players based on the following criteria:

• To bridge the gap in clubs from youth to senior rugby as the players will be U17 to U20 and cross both sections.

• To encourage clubs to keep in touch with players once they have gone to university.

The festival takes place on a Friday evening so it does not clash with any pre-season training or impede on any weekend activity or work that players might have in the off season. Squad sizes will be a maximum of 12.

The festival takes place on July 19 with a barbecue for players and spectators. To enter call Glen Gavin on 07801 852319 or email glenn.gavin@btinternet.com
