Bowlers win Loud and proud

Thame’s bowlers did the town proud in the first leg of a mixed triples fixture with Loudwater.

Played away in ideal bowling conditions last week on a green that was drying out after the recent rain, Thame had no trouble finding the Jack and despite some excellent play by the host club, Thame managed to win on all four rinks by 76 shots to 46.

The top rink honours for the match went to Keith Wright, Simon Bell and the team’s skipper Gerry Barry winning by 19 shots to 9.

The game of Mixed Rinks against South Oxford last week saw the visitors win

by 25 shots, scoring 116 shots to Thame’s 91. Top Rink honours went to

Jackie Emberson,Phillip Perry,Simon Bell and Skip Richard Plested who

won by 24 shots to 17.

On Tuesday, Watlington Ladies played Thame Ladies on three rinks of Triples.

From a deficit of 12 shots at the halfway mark, Thame fought back to finish

just 6 shots down, losing by 47 shots to 53. Top Rink went to Maire Duncan,

Maureen Giles and Skip Jill Brooks who won by 21 shots to 13.
