Aylesbury boss Dave Larham has called on his side to show ‘desire’ in their bid to seal a play-off promotion place ahead of today’s (Saturday) trip to Reading Abbey.
The Magenta and Blacks beat local rivals Wycombe 19-14 last time out and Larham hopes they can continue to grind out wins to have a chance of promotion from Southern Counties North.
“We must have the desire to want to improve and keep ourselves in contention for the second place promotion play-off position,” Larham said.
Larham admitted their match against Wycombe was a lot tougher this time around following an easy victory earlier in the season.
But he hopes his side have learned a bit more about what it will take to trump second-placed Thatcham to that coveted runners-up spot.
“We were made to work hard for our win, but were the better team over 80 minutes,” Larham said.
“We started slowly and were often out-worked by a much-improved Wycombe side, but showed a cutting edge when needed.”
