For the second time in recent years the Ladies Club Championship at Aylesbury Vale Golf Club went to a play-off.
After the first round the lead was shared between Amy Crowson and Natalie Rendle.
With 36 holes played on the same day it became a test of stamina as well as skill. Amy and Natalie were inseparable and both finished the second round with a 36-hole total of 179.
However, Amy held her nerve to win the first play-off hole and take the title. Jane Barker won the net competition with two excellent rounds of 71 and 70 to take that title, and a three shot reduction to her handicap.
Meanwhile, Vale’s Seniors Open competition was held last week at the club. The winning pair of seniors captain Brian Roberts and Mick Curtis came from the Stewkley-based club. Their score of 43 points - the Betterball Stableford was one ahead of runners-up Doug Ryder and Steve Spinks from Whipsnade Golf Club.
