From karts to cars for James

OAKLEY karting ace James DeHavillande is hoping to move into sports car racing for the 2012 season.

Aylesbury Grammar School pJames took his first steps last Saturday in freezing conditions at the famous Silverstone GP circuit. After successfully completing a written examination on the rules of motorsport James spent over an hour in the bitter cold driving an open top Caterham.

The wet and frosty conditions were ideal for learning skid control in this powerful lightweight sports car.

After a brief break to thaw out and have some lunch, James was again out on the Stowe circuit for race training in one of the Silverstone Renault Clios.

Despite the slippery conditions he was soon showing his skills, and reaching speeds of 120mph down the straights.

And he has now been invited to test drive the 110mph Ginetta G40 sports car at Bedford Autodrome. The Junior Ginetta series runs as a support class to the British touring Car Championship with races held at all the major race tracks around the country including Silverstone and Brands Hatch with live coverage of all races shown live on ITV.
