FA Cup hero Emmerson Boyce says he ‘can’t wait’ to return to the scene of his greatest footballing moment when he completes a Wembley hat-trick this Sunday.

The Wigan defender will be leading FA Cup winners Wigan out under the arch for their FA Community Shield match against Premier League champions Manchester United.

Wigan sprung one of the greatest shocks in FA Cup final history in May when Boyce led them to a memorable win over mega rich Manchester City.

Wigan’s relegation took the edge off the FA Cup win but after a fine start to the new Championship season, Boyce says he is more relaxed going into this week’s game.

“I cannot wait to go back to the stadium of what is my best football moment to date, lifting the FA Cup.

“Man United will be a hard game. But after a good start to the season (Wigan beat Barnsley 4-0 on the opening day on Saturday) we go into the game full of confidence and ready to test our team against the best.”

Playing at Wembley is like London buses for the Aylesbury-born Barbadian and he says completing a unique Wembley hat-trick is ‘more than a dream come true’.

“It’s funny I have been waiting all of my career to play there and now I am playing Wembley for the third time in four or five months, it’s more than a dream come true. And this time around I can enjoy the build-up to game more.”
