There were goals galore in games between Aylesbury’s top two sides with United triumphing 4-1 but FC losing a seven-goal thriller 4-3.

FC made it nine goals conceded in just two games in defeat at Slough Town. But it was an excellent display considering Craig Faulconbridge’s men had played less than 48 hours before, in the 5-0 defeat to Godalming on Thursday night.

In truth the Moles should have come away with something from the game but goals from Brian Haule (21), Lamar Simpson (44) and Luke Abraham were not enough to earn at least a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, Aylesbury United eventually saw off struggling Hatfield Town 4-1 despite being locked at 1-1 when the relegation-threatened side equalised Joey Acheampong’s strike in the second half.

Tony Joyce needn’t have worried, though, as Ben Butler, Zac Reynolds and Liam Smyth all scored – the latter two producing stunning strikes – to make things more comfortable. The win saw Ducks open up a gap in second in the Spartan South Midlands Premier League with Oxhey Jets’ proposed game against Tring Athletic called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
