THAME United could become a family affair after Dan West, son of manager Mark, began training with them.

The youngster was released from Oxford United’s academy last year and has began pre-season training with Thame along with two of his teammates.

Connor McDonagh and Matt Willetts have also moved over from the academy and are set to be on trial during Thame’s pre-season fixtures.

Thame begin with a match against Burnham on Saturday, July 16, before glamour games against Oxford United and Hayes and Yeading.

Thame will also face the two Aylesbury sides of United and FC, in a pre-season calendar that assistant manager Frank Thompson believes will be perfect preparation for the league.

He said: “It is a very good line-up, every team we are against are of the same level or of a higher standard allowing us to see our players in a competitive match.”
