Faulkner swoops to bag FC’s first league win of the season while Ducks cruise to keep pressure on Dunstable at the top

Aylesbury FC finally got their first league win of the season as James Faulkner sealed a 1-0 win at Woodford United on Saturday while Aylesbury United beat Biggleswade 3-1.

Aylesbury man Faulkner answered manager Craig Faulconbridge’s prayers for a goalscorer when he pounced to score in the 71st minute.

The win lifts FC up to joint 15th in the Evo Stik Division One Central League.

Meanwhile, in Leighton at Aylesbury United’s Bell Close ground, first goals of the season from Ben Baines and Zac Reynolds, either side of another from Ben Butler, gave the Ducks a 3-1 win over Biggleswade United and a sixth straight victory.

Tony Joyce’s side consolidated their place amongst the title favourites with the win and sit in second place, one point behind leaders Dunstable. They also opened up a six-point gap on fourth place.
