Both Aylesbury sides are in the hat for the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy after the Ducks won 4-2 against Faversham on Sunday afternoon while FC were held to a 2-2 draw at VCD Athletic on Saturday.
United stormed into a 3-0 lead before the half hour mark with goals from Bill Morgan and two Keith Williams penalties. But from that commanding position a cheaply conceded goal just before the break handed Faversham a lifeline.
The Kent side made things interesting when they got a second early in the second half as the Ducks started to wobble.
It lead to some nervy moments as the Ryman Division One South outfit pressed hard for an equaliser, but Tony Joyce’s side soaked up the pressure before adding a fourth to kill the tie through Jason Blackett who fired home from outside the box.
The Ducks now face another Kent side, Ramsgate, at Bell Close in the next round on the weekend of October 19/20.
Meanwhile, Aylesbury FC were held to a 2-2 draw at VCD Athletic and will face them again on Tuesday night in the replay at Haywood Way (7.45pm).
Matt Hall (26 minutes) and Lamar Simpson (31) minutes put FC 2-0 up and cruising.
But VCD grabbed one back before the break and equalised in the second half to force the rematch and halt the Moles’ four-match winning run in all competitions.
