After the excellent 3-1 Bank Holiday win over bitter rivals Aylesbury United, the Moles will be hoping to continue their form in important matches when they entertain Thatcham in the FA Cup today (Saturday, 3pm).

Aside from the prestige that goes with an FA Cup run, it can also prove lucrative, particularly for a club of FC’s size, with the winners of the preliminary round walking away with £1,925 in prize money.

Speaking ahead of the match, FC boss Craig Faulconbridge said: “The build up to the game against Aylesbury United couldn’t have been worse, three defeats on the bounce certainly swayed the odds in the opposition’s favour but, when the chips are down you get to know what your players are really made of and they certainly were on Monday.

“This weekend we welcome Thatcham to Haywood Way and we need to show the same desire, passion and commitment we showed for 90 minutes on Monday to progress in this tournament.

“The FA cup has not been great in my short tenure as manager but with the three ingredients mentioned and a bit of luck we will have every opportunity to progress.

“On a personal note I would like to thank all the support given over the past four games. It was humbling to hear our fans chanting non-stop and giving the whole atmosphere on Monday an added spice. With the passion shown off the field matching that on it like on Monday, we will certainly not only progress in this competition, but in the league and other cups as well.”

Team news: The squad will be hit by a couple of absentees after the United game with Kwasi Frempong (injured), Max Farrelly (work) and Jonathan Hippolyte all unavailable. Some new signings may be announced on the day of the game.

Squad: Rhys Marshall, Lamar Simpson, Matt Hall, Ben Stevens, Lee Grant, Derek Feyi, Nick O’Donovan, Sonny French, Anthony Davitt, Ollie Hogg, Davis Haule, Jack Thomson, Jerome Federico, Gareth Price and Brian Haule.
