Aylesbury United proved their mettle in the Southern League Division 1 as they came from behind to beat Chalfont St Peter 3-1.
Debutant Jason Blackett was the star of the show as the striker grabbed an equaliser and laid on the second for Jack Wood to give United the lead at Chalfont on Tuesday evening before Zack Reynolds wrapped up the points deep into injury time.
The Ducks struggled in their opening game of the season when they lost 2-0 to promotion favourites Rugby Town.
But boss Tony Joyce was delighted to see his side get their first win of the season.
He said: “Everybody wants to get their first couple of points. You want to get your points early as some clubs haven’t yet. We didn’t start particularly great for the first 20 minutes.
“Their goal kicked us into life a little bit and we had a few choice words at half-time. It was a bit nervy at the end but it was a good game to watch.”
With top scorers Stacey Field and Louis Austin both injured Joyce was thrilled to see Blackett run rings around Chalfont.
The former AFC Dunstable forward grabbed the equaliser after following up his own header before he set up Wood with a cheeky backheel.
United travel to Chertsey Town on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
