Aylesbury United have announced the appointment of a football development coordinator.

Martyn Shaw has been handed the role which the club say has been created to enhance its recent merger with Aylesbury Town and develop new initiatives.

But Shaw’s duties will also include helping Ducks boss Tony Joyce in the scouting of players, assessing opponents, preparing reports and assisting in driving the technical programmes of the club’s junior and youth network.

In what is an all-encompassing position, Shaw will also be overseeing and ensuring the continued improvement, growth and development of managers, coaches and players.

A club statement read: “The continued co-ordination, development, improvement and progression of all sections and age-groups within the club. The seamless transfer and progression of players, managers and coaches within Aylesbury United FC.

“The setting up and development of specialist initiatives such as Special Needs/Disability and Walking Football in partnership with the Berks and Bucks FA.”

Now in his third spell at United, Shaw is a qualified FA coach and the fourth of five generations of his family to be involved with the green and whites.

The club statement added: “He will retain his current positions as club chaplain, welfare officer, special needs/disability and community coach.”
