Aylesbury FC will be going all out to halt their dismal run of six straight defeats when new manager Steve Bateman takes charge of his first game at Beaconsfield SYCOB today (Saturday), less than 24 hours after being appointed.
The Moles were well beaten 4-1 by Marlow on Tuesday night as the club’s wretched run continued.
And Bateman’s appointment comes at just the right time as FC’s slump has seen them go without a league win since the end of September.
Until late Friday night FC had been without an official manager since Craig Faulconbridge stepped down to focus on the Moles’ youth development last month.
Whether it has bad luck, bad form or a degree of uncertainty, something was certainly affecting the team’s performances but Bateman and the club will be hoping his appointment will help arrest their slide at 12th placed Beaconsfield.
Meanwhile, Martone has urged fans to get behind the team more than ever.
“It’s the start of a new dawn at the club ... we look forward to the bright future that our supporters undoubtedly deserve.”
