An independent football academy is hoping to unearth the Vale’s next Matt Phillips or Emmerson Boyce.

Wright Football has started up new training sessions and football tournaments for youngsters ranging from under eight to under 16 at the new artificial pitches at The Mandeville School.

Managing director Ben Williams said: “The overall aim is to produce some football players for the future. The tournament was our way of building links in the local community as a way of recruiting junior players.”

Mr Williams said the sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday nights offer professional coaching from Sam Grace, who is Reading’s under-11s manager, and Steve Glenister who has previous experience with Wycombe Wanderers.

The five-week academy course costs £30 to enter. To apply call 01296 695202 or email
