Dinton slumped to a disappointing 133-run defeat against Farnham Royal to leave their promotion hopes hanging in the balance.

The result leaves Dinton third in the league facing a huge game at Cove.

With a showery start to the day, both teams were unsure whether the game would start on time, the covers were pulled on and off regularly but eventually the game started slightly late with Dinton winning the toss and asking Farnham Royal to bat under cloudy conditions.

Farnham started steadily and finished on 254-8, Packard left with a well-made 77.

With Dinton needing over five runs an over, it was crucial for a good start.

However Marland and Wilcox could find little momentum, Khan and Bradshaw bowling tidy lines and lengths.

Dinton were forced to take an early tea due to rain with the score on 40-0 from 16 overs. Dinton lost Wilcox to Khan with the score on 47-1.

Captain Mike Sutliff came to the crease earlier than his usual spot at number three, but unfortunately fell to the spin of Esh. Esh continued to bowl well accounting for Gough and Burrows in quick succession.

The only resistance came from Amin as Dinton eventually limped to 121 all out. The disappointing result leaves Dinton third with that game at Cove to come.
