The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced that they are having their first child next year – and the bookies are already taking bets on the Royal Baby’s name.

Arthur, Alice and Diana are the current front runners, all listed as 12/1 with Betfair.

Betfair are offering longer odds to punters who opt for Henry, Oliver or Thomas, all available at 25/1.

Girl names already being touted by bookmakers, include Elizabeth (16/1), Victoria (25/1) and Grace 30/1.

The odds on Meghan and Harry naming their baby Boris, Doris or Joffrey are unsurprisingly lengthy, all listed at 200/1.

Loose coat a giveaway

Katie Baylis, Betfair Spokesperson, explained the organisations initial odds: “Meghan’s loose coat at Princess Eugenie’s wedding on Friday led to speculation that an announcement was imminent and now that we have it, the Royal Baby name game starts.

“At this stage Diana, Arthur and Alice, which was favourite at different stages for Kate and William’s babies, are the 12/1 front runners. However, with months until the baby is born, those odds will shorten, change and other names will come to the forefront, so watch this space.”
