A pump which can heat a whole building using less power than two electric fans is being installed at the offices of a car wash firm.

The ground source heat pump, which is set to warm up the offices of Car Wash UK, at Long Crendon Industrial Park, will be the first energy at the estate to qualify for a government green incentive scheme.

Mike Ambrose, the firm’s managing director, said: “As well as saving money this heat pump installation mean we will be using around 24,000 less kilowatt hours of electricity per year, saving over 12,000 kilograms of CO2 emissions.”

The pump works by taking heat from the ground, then concentrating it until it is warm enough to heat a building.

Pipes used to complete the installation are 640 metres long and are encased in holes 80 metres deep.
