Thames Valley’s new police chief will face his first public grilling on Thursday in Aylesbury.
Anthony Stansfeld will address the inaugral meeting of the police and crime panel, which is charged with scrutinising his policies, at the district council’s Gatehouse Road base.
The commissioner will meet the panel – consisting mainly of councillors – frequently to discuss matters such as senior appointments, council tax precepts and the local police and crime plan.
It aims to ensure the commissioner has achieved the his aims, considered policing priorities and consulted properly with the public and victims of crime.
Trevor Egleton, chairman of the Thames Valley police and crime panel, said: “One of our most important roles is to scrutinise the commissioner on important decisions affecting communities across the area.
“We will challenge him, but I want this to be a positive relationship where the panel adds value to the commissioner role, securing the best results for the people we serve.”
