Shoppers at Waitrose Thame elected to support Scannappeal as one of several charities under the supermarket’s community matters scheme.

Every month the branch donates £1000, split between three local good causes. These are chosen by their customers placing a token into the box of the good cause they would most like to support. The more tokens a cause gets the bigger donation they receive.

Local charity Scannappeal which is celebrating 25 years of fundraising for state-of-the-art medical equipment for local hospital’s, has received a cheque for £460 for its Bowel Cancer Appeal at Stoke Mandeville Hospital (SMH). This Appeal is for £80,000 to purchase a 3D ScopeGuide for the detection and treatment of Bowel cancer which is the second most common cancer in women and third in men. Once purchased, SMH would have technology that is at the forefront of endoscopy so all patients will benefit from improved colonic procedures, reducing the risk of missed cancers.
