A HOME was targeted by a gang of distraction burglars who locked the victims upstairs while they raided the house.

The incident took place in New Road in Weston Turville at around 1.20pm on Thursday (March 15).

Four men knocked on the door to the home, before locking the occupants upstairs the house and stealing jewellery, cash and bank cards.

They then left in a black Audi A3, which had its boot left open. Empty jewellery boxes stolen from the address were later found discarded on the Wendover by-pass at around 2.20pm.

DC Richard Bazeley, investigating, said: “This was a frightening experience for the victims and I am determined to bring the offenders to justice.

“They had Irish accents, and are described as between 18 and 30 years old and of stocky build. They appeared to be targeting Asian families by claiming to be from the immigration services.

“These offences are also believed to be linked to a further offence in West Drayton, in the outskirts of London, and Banbury, where the same method was used to gain entry and steal valuable items.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw a group of men acting suspiciously in the streets nearby in the days leading up to the offences or around the Wendover by-pass to contact me on 101.”
