To keep the Christmas story fresh a unique outdoor nativity performance will take place on Sunday, December 9.

It has been jointly produced by Ivinghoe, Pitstone, Marsworth and Slapton Churches.

Writer and director Dave Sivers said: “Each year the producers have tried to do something a little different to make the Christmas story fresh all over again.

“There has been a traditional take on the nativity, a modern dress 21st century version and last year a telling of the story through the eyes of The Angel Gabriel.”

This year the Beacon Theatre Company, St Mary’s Church and Ivinghoe’s choir music group are combining to present the world premiere of Mary! A Nativity Musical.

“We have a great cast, with some fantastic singers,” said Dave.

“This will be a show that everyone will want to see to kick-start their Christmas.”

As well as writing the script, Dave has penned the words for eight original songs and co-written the music with Judith Sheridan. The new songs will be interspersed with traditional carols for the audience to join in.

The title role of Mary will be played by singer Amanda Comley (pictured), who grew up in Pitstone and now lives in Leighton Buzzard.

The former Pontin’s bluecoat has been a finalist in a national talent show and performed in Donizetti’s The Elixir Of Love for Aylesbury Opera Group. She regularly sings with the Beacon Community Choir.

Amanda said: “I’m thrilled to be playing the part of Mary and the musical twist on this years nativity makes it fresh and fabulous – can’t wait to perform it to the masses.”

It will be showing in the barn at Pitstone Green Museum.
