Police are treating the knife attack, which took place at 10am, as ‘GBH with intent’.

A number of police officers remain at the Friarscroft Way home, just off Oxford Road.

Police said they were hunting a male suspect but no arrests have yet been made.

Neighbours said the woman has a toddler son and that she has only lived at the house for roughly six months.

The helicopter landed on the playing field behind Aylesbury College and Sir Henry Floyd School before flying the victim to Oxford.

Detective inspector Simon Steel said: “This is an isolated incident where the victim and the offender are believed to be known to each other.

“Further, I would like to reassure the public that the force is conducting a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrator to justice.

“The neighbourhood team will be carrying out increased patrols in the area to offer reassurance to the local community and if anyone has any concerns please do speak to officers.”
