Plans to build a brand new 14 lane bowling alley in Aylesbury have been given the go ahead by council chiefs.

Rogue Racing, which currently runs a go karting business in Stocklake applied to create the attraction in Gatehouse Way.

Boss Aidan Kirwan is cautiously optimistic that the lanes will open in time for Christmas, and says that building work has already started on site.

He said: “We found out last Friday and got to work getting everything ready straight away.

“We’ve started to build down there now.

“We are optimistic that we can open by Christmas, but it’s all subject to contractors and things like that, it only takes one thing to go wrong but we are hoping for the best.

“The first stage is to build a big dividing wall to make off where the alley is and where the go karts are going to go.

“We will then focus on getting the bowling alley up to scratch to be ready hopefully in time for Christmas.”

This week’s news will be welcomed by many in Aylesbury, who mourned the lost of historic Friars Square alley Jardines in 2012 which was run by Stan Adams and his late wife Eileen.
